Reinventing a hospitality icon

In a transformative project, a shopping centre, set within one of the city’s most iconic buildings, embarked on a journey to reinvent itself. Our team was brought on board to spearhead the interior design of a new food court and restaurants on the ground floor. Our role quickly expanded, moving beyond just reimagining the dining spaces.

The brief

We joined the revitalisation of the food court and restaurants at a critical juncture in the design process. The client sought our expertise to steer the project back on course, with a mandate to create an inviting, warm space where visitors could savour extended meals and enjoy a welcoming atmosphere.

The challenge

Our approach focused on establishing a general ambiance instead of adhering to a rigid blueprint. A key element of our vision was to pay homage to the building’s heritage, crafting an interior that reflected the style and spirit of the 1960’s – the era when the shopping centre first opened its doors.

The results

The final design, featuring a warm colour palette enriched with wood, brass, and soft furnishings, achieves a modern aesthetic with a respectful nod to the 1960’s. This theme, initiated by our involvement, has since extended to the shopping centre’s public areas. Similar furniture, colours and materials have been used to establish a coherent brand identity and create a space that offers a place where people can enjoy their experience.
